In The Air Tonight Sisters of the Craft Lori Handeland 9781250020123 Books

I have been a Lori Handeland fan forever. I have read and reread her books because they are so enjoyable. Therefore I was THRILLED to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book has everything I look for in a book--a suspenseful plot, characters I could love or hate, humor, and a love story.

Raye Larsen, our heroine, can see and talk to ghosts. Some she can persuade to move on, others just watch silently and a few (a child ghost called Stafford) cause mischief. Raye has learned not to let people see her communicating with the ghosts but a few people are aware she knows things she shouldn't.

Then a strange murder occurs in the little town where Raye lives and the police called in the FBI who connects the case with several cold cases being worked by Bobby Doucet in New Orleans. Bobby arrives just in time to save Raye from the murderer and the game is on.

Can Bobby adjust to small town life and deal with a woman who sees ghosts? Who is the ghost Raye sees who looks like a Puritan? Is herding cattle part of the police work required here? Tune in to find out more!

In The Air Tonight Sisters of the Craft Lori Handeland 9781250020123 Books Reviews

I really enjoyed this book. Good humor, good characters, good story. I was afraid it would be weird that it's written from two different view points, but she did a very good job with it, and you get more info from characters when it's not all written in the first person. I will definitely read the next book!
Awesome as always ! Lori Handeland instinctively knows just what her readers love and always produces exciting, adventurous novels with a great infusion of humor. Have read all her previous novels and will alway read all the new too !
Thanks Lori ! Keep us the great work '
I've always liked Lori Handeland's books & was excited she was starting a new series. This one lived up to my expectations. It was great! The other thing I liked about it is three coming out one after another. I don't have to wait 6 months to a year for the next one & in the meantime, I kind of forgot what happened in the last one. I thoroughly enjoyed this & promptly ordered the next two.
Raye was able to c ghost. Has been since she was little. After she find out people thought she was crazy she started keeping it to herself. Bobby was a cop in New Orleans. They had a killer that was killing then trying to burn them after. He came to Raye's home town when they had a muder that was like his at home. Loved the first book can't wait for the second. Plus so old favorites seemed to show up. Ones haven't thought of in years!! Hope get new one out soon lol...😀
This is the first in a trilogy and I bought it because it was on sale and I loved the TV show Charmed. I also enjoy cozy paranormals and this sounded like one. Except for the overly described bedroom scenes, the story fits the cozy genre. By the time I was one third of the way through the book, I was betting I would immediately want to read the next 2 installments about the other sisters. Up in the Air is a great start to a trilogy, so I am looking forward to reading more about Raye's family and the characters from this book! If you were a Charmed fan, I think you will like In the Air Tonight!
This was a mostly good book. It was a fast and easy read. While surprised,it was nice to see her main characters tied into this book including Cassandra and Edward. I admit to racking my brain a little as Sullivan and the FBI agent talk werewolves and the agent knows Cassandra. I'm wondering if they were in a previous book or are coming later.

The premise of this and the next two books is interesting. I'm not a fan of first person books so I took off 1/2 a star for that. The other 1/2 deduction comes from the lack of backstory. We were about 65% of the way through the book before we started learning. Bobby was a New Orleans detective who manages to run the case in Wisconsin which seemed odd and I felt like we were well into the book before he did anything.
Trilogy involving triplet girls born in the 1600’s and magicked to a safer place by their parents when they sacrificed themselves while being burned at the stake by witch hunters, in order to save their daughters.

Raye can see and speak to ghosts; she always could but learned at the age of four that if she didn’t want to be returned to the place that adopted her out, she had to never again mention what she can see to her adoptive parents. Now a kindergarten teacher in the small WI town she grew up in, it becomes obvious her life is in danger when a guy comes after her on more than one occasion with a meat cleaver. But why?

New Orleans Homicide Detective Bobby Doucet arrives in the small town to see if their homicide victim, which has the same brand on her skin as another victim he’s seen in his home town, is related. He and Raye are immediately attracted, but he has a good reason to believe that anyone claiming to any type of supernatural or psychic abilities are charlatans.

This series is set in the same world as the Nightcreature series and we even get a visit from one of the series’ popular characters from New Orleans. But even though the world had already been built in the prior series, there is a great deal of world building with the focus on witches and witch hunters, beginning back in the 1600’s in this one. A very interesting setting and situation.

I absolutely love the “voices” of the main characters, Raye and Bobby, with just a tad snarky sarcasm whether speaking to the reader, other characters and even their thoughts. Just enough to give the story a light-hearted touch.

You might want to have some tissues handy. This story gets somewhat emotional at times.

I can’t wait for the next book; thankfully the books in the trilogy are being released just 1 month apart so we don’t have to wait very long.
