It's Not Over, by Grahame Claire, was a great read. When I was asked to read this book I went into it completely blind, having only read the synopsis. In my head I figured from the synopsis, that it would be a second chance/contemporary romance, it was much more. From the opening line of this book I was totally hooked. This read took me for a ride. Though it was a contemporary romance it was also suspenseful, mysterious, angsty, heartbreaking, and sweet. This book was written and flowed so well that I couldn't believe this was the debut book for Grahame Claire.
The hero Daniel was an enigma in the start of the book. He was also really intriguing. I was very drawn to him, I wanted to figure him out. Figure out his past and why he was doing the things he was doing. There was so much depth to Daniel. He was Protective, sweet, loyal, smart, and sexy. He could also be cold, withdrawn, and at times he could be cruel. Daniel may have been a bad boy that played on both sides of the law, but he was a good man. Vivian was great too. She was strong, independent, and a fighter. She had some serious sass, but she was also sweet, caring and down to earth. I love that she fought for their relationship, their love. That she showed her vulnerability and pain without fear, and that she was honest. My heart broke for her and at times I could feel her pain as if it was my own.
When the book starts it's 8 years into Daniel and Vivian's relationship. The book jumps back and forth between the present and the past, when Daniel and Vivian first fell in love. I loved getting to see how their relationship started. I also really, really loved that Vivian didn't just jump into bed with Daniel. She made him work for it, spend time with her, get to know each other. Causal sex in books is fine. I read them all the time, but not everyone is like that, and it was nice to see something a little different. There is some push/pull in this book and it worked well. The secondary characters, Muriella and Stone were interesting too. Their budding romance and Muriella past has me hoping their book comes out soon. I really loved this book. I am so glad I was asked to read it. I have been in a book funk for a while now and this book was different enough that it got me hooked and keep me entertained.

What a captivating debut novel by Grahame Claire! I kind of stumbled upon this book and the blurb grabbed me immediately. Needless to say, as soon as I started reading it I couldn't put it down! This is a page-turner with lots of twists and turns told in dual POV'S which I love. I think what drew me into this story was how it was written -- very unique in that you don't immediately get all the background story right away -- it's given to you in bits and pieces which is a great way to grab you and get you invested in the storyline! I loved all the characters and the explosive chemistry between Daniel and Vivian. I'm really looking forward to Stone and Muriella's story--I'm thinking it'll be quite fascinating and steamy as well! And don't forget to subscribe to get the bonus scene at the end of the book-so sexy! Excellent romantic suspense--drama, angst, thrilling, bittersweet and seriously sexy!
I started It’s Not Over at 1030pm last night. Hubby came in to tuck me in at 1100 pm and I decided that I should get back into it in the morning. So, I turned the light off and attempted to sleep. Look, to be honest, I didn’t try too hard to get to sleep, but I did try a little. At 1110 pm, I picked up my device and got back into it until midnight. Oh boy, thank goodness I set myself a time limit. I woke up this morning, started reading, and all hell broke loose. If I had read the next part before midnight, I would have been up all night reading. Holy bloody hell, my heart was beating out of my chest, I was smirking one minute then crying the next. By lunch-time today, I was finished, and I have a big goofy grin on my face.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s not perfect, but that’s because Daniel was an IDIOT!! Well, for some of the time he was an idiot, but he was also sweet, loving and selfless…but he was an IDIOT!! Yep, the numbskull decided to sacrifice himself and his happiness out of loyalty and love. Sure, he thought he was protecting his loved ones but hiding the truth doesn’t always protect, sometimes it puts them in the path of danger.

It’s Not Over made me look at myself and the relationships I have with the people I love and admire. The most important people in my life have my loyalty and respect because they earned it not expected it. Would the people I love expect me to sacrifice my happiness for their happiness? No, but that’s why I would go above and beyond to show them I care. Their happiness means a lot to me, but I respect them too much to not try and work through problems together, not just fix it for them. And, this is where Daniel was an IDIOT. He should have trusted the people who loved him to watch his back, stand at his side, or step in front if needed.

I have to admit to a little bit of stir-crazy, mumble, grumbles with all the time jumping in this one. Sure, it was needed to see everything but, maybe we didn’t need so many time-warps again. One thing it did help with was showing Vivian’s maturity and growth. Her younger years showed her sassy stubbornness in the form of snarky comebacks and youthful confidence. While in her older years, we see a similar sassy stubbornness that shows her strength and backbone. This confidence comes from maturity and knowing what she wants and a determination to settle for nothing less.

One thing that was refreshing, is that Daniel loves two women and I never once gave him squinty eyes for it. Vivian is undoubtedly the love of his life (even though he’s an IDIOT about it) and Muriella is someone who he would protect with his life and loves like a sister. Seriously, I NEVER questioned their relationship. Ok, I lie. For like 2.5 seconds I may have thought it was something else, but that was it. 2.5 seconds. Trust me. Anyway, I think there's a certain cowboy Muriella can't stop thinking about.

I enjoyed It’s Not Over. The characters were interesting, the storyline kept my attention from start to finish and the sexy times got my heart pumping. A new author duo to me and I’m a fan. I will definitely be reading more from Grahame Claire in the future...especially if a certain cowboy was there. I'm even thinking Donato has a bunch of daughters who may be looking for love...
